Description

Main Backstory:
Sandy's current employer is none other than Ultra-Mega Mart; a department store chain that was once regarded as the biggest, most incredible retail outlet in the entire nation. Or at least it was; back in the 70's. Nowadays though, UM-Mart is now a shadow of its former self; with only a handful of stores scattered across the country. However, that's not terribly important right now.

You see, Sandy began working at UM-Mart all in the hopes of improving her family's financial situation. Since as most of you may already know, Sandy's mother Miranda ( [link] ) spent every single penny that she had (and then some) in order to pay for her daughter's medical bills; back when Sandy had to be hospitalized due to her car accident. Because of this, life had become very hard for the both of them. Miranda was forced to work multiple shifts at St. Philip's Hospital, just so she and Sandy could scrape by. Such hardship persisted for nearly two years, when Sandy finally decided that enough was enough. It was time for her to find work; her mother had been supporting her for long enough. Now, it was time for Sandy to start supporting her mother.

Sandy spent the better part of a year in search of employ. During that time, she would do the occasional odd-job around her neighborhood; house-sitting, yard work, etc. But even though these odd-jobs did help, Sandy really needed a full-time job. She had finally found gainful employment, however, once she applied for an opening at Ultra-Mega Mart. The interview was rather easy for her; to the point of being confusingly so. For her interviewer, a young otter by the name of William Michaels, only really asked her two questions. "What's your name?" and "Are you sure you want to work here?" Once she gave her answers ("Sandy Livingston" and "yes?"), she immediately got the job. Needless to say, Sandy was overjoyed to finally acquire employment. She was given a quick tour of the shop and was then told to report for work the next day. Sandy had now become a part of the Ultra-Mega Mart family; her position essentially being that of a stock boy (or rather, stock girl). Sandy has been working at UM-Mart for a little over a year now.

Other Information:
Ever since Sandy began working at UM-Mart, both she and her mother have been doing much better. Sandy uses most of her paycheck to help pay the bills; for which Miranda is greatly appreciative of. Miranda still works hard so as to support herself and her daughter; but now, she can afford to work on a more normal schedule, instead of a 70-hour work week like she used to be doing.

As for Sandy, she doesn't really enjoy her work all that much. She spends most of her day just roaming about the store, restocking the shelves and constantly reorganizing the stockroom's inventory; having to clean up the occasional spill from time to time along the way. But with the help of her new friends as well as the fervent desire to support her mother, Sandy has learned to cope with her situation. Also, Sandy continues to work at UM-Mart due to a crush that she seems to have for William; the store's assistant manager and the man that interviewed her when she first applied for the job.

Ultra-Mega Mart, in and of itself, is a fairly large department store; but with only twenty or so employees working within its walls. As mentioned before, UM-Mart is now pretty much a ghost of its former self; creating enough revenue to still be around, but not nearly enough to be as prominent as it once was. The official uniform is either a red polo-style shirt with the logo stitched into it and a pair of dark khaki pants; or a red vest with the UM-Mart logo emblazoned on the back. The store manager, Dilbert Fritzer, tends to treat all of his employees rather disrespectfully and for the most part, doesn't even bother to remember their names; preferring instead to refer to them by an assigned nickname. Sandy, for instance, he usually refers to as "Fluffy"; due to her weight and generally "fluffy" appearance.

Sandy isn't too keen on the name, though she does favor it over the alternative; a nickname that rhymes with the words "hard" and "mass".
